6 Simple Steps to Getting Rich With Ebooks

6 Simple Steps to Getting Rich With Ebooks

One of the ways that a lot of people know me is through an ebook that I started giving away in January of 2001.  The book is called As a Man Thinketh, and it’s a classic book that’s over 100 years old. I didn’t write it, but I’ve given away over 400,000 copies of it.

That tiny little book was so powerful in my life that I got to thinking that there were others who should read this book, and I wanted to help them find it and do just that. So I did!

Now, I’m not a techie kind of guy; I just knew I wanted to share what was happening in my heart and in my life. So I got a domain and got the book into the right format and started sharing it, for free, with everyone I could.

Later I wrote a little book about how As a Man Thinketh had worked its way into my spirit, and what I was doing about it. I was able to sell that book, and that was the beginning of a very dramatic – and astonishingly lucrative — turn-around in my life.

Here’s how you can do the very same thing I did.

1. Find your Big Idea

Haven’t you had days where you saw something and thought, “Wouldn’t it be awesome if…”?

Have you figured out the secret to getting a toddler to potty train quickly? Are you a creative cook with an unusual style? Have you tried a treatment for arthritis that was just incredible?

Take notes! When you find a fresh, interesting new idea, jot it down, and move on to step 2 below.

2. Find out if others are interested in your Big Idea

A simple search on Google, YouTube, or Facebook can tell you exactly how many people are searching for information about the idea you had.

There, wasn’t that easy?

The next step takes just a bit more effort, but I’m going to give you several great options to get it done.

3. Get your Big Idea produced

Now you have to figure out how to produce the content. Here are just a few of the options:

Write your ebook yourself
Hire a freelancer to write your book (check Elance, Freelancer, etc.)
Talk out your book, record it, and hire a transcriptionist (and editor) to get it into shape.
License an ebook that someone else has produced
Find an ebook in the public domain that you can send out

I once bought the rights to an ebook for $200 because I liked the content and thought others would find it helpful, and I’ve made over $50,000 selling that ebook!

4. Decide how you want to sell your new ebook

There are many options here, from getting yourself a (free) WordPress website, to buying some shopping cart software and getting that installed.

Another option is to go straight to Amazon and upload it and let Amazon sell the book for you.

But you don’t have to stop there. Millions of dollars have been made using Clickbank to sell ebooks. Take a look over there and see how simple it is to get signed up and open your account.

5. Market your new ebook

Marketing is what makes the sales happen. Here are a few of the many ways out there you might market your new ebook:

Buy pay-per-click ads on Google
Send links to your book out on social networks
Publish articles about your ebook on your own or other people’s websites
Send out free press releases
List your ebook on Craigslist

Here’s an insider tip: work with other authors in your same niche. Once people have bought another author’s book, they may also be interested in your ebook as well.

6. Take Your Money To The Bank

This is my favorite step of all: Take Your Money To The Bank.

Actually, you may not have to take your money to the bank at all. You can have PayPal deliver your funds electronically, and you never have to do a thing.

Every single business day that I’ve gotten up in the last ten years, there’s been more money in my bank than there was the night before when I went to bed. I love waking up to new money!

And so will you.

Those are the steps. They’re simple. There’s some finesse in there, but it's just like anything else. The more you do it the better you become.

By playing small, you don’t serve the world. Dream BIG! Then get started now! Take action and see how your life can change just like mine did.
