Success Margin
You may not care a whit about the game of
tennis as such. But I believe if you are seeking
success, it will pay you to absorb this.
I've found that all success in life can often be
fueled by big dreams. Or medium sized
dreams. And small dreams too.
Since I was eight years old I dreamed of
attending the world's biggest and best tennis
event - Wimbledon.
But I had never gotten around to it. While I've
so enjoyed going to the French Open and the
US Open, I never made it to Wimbledon.
What kept me away? Conflicts in my schedule.
Mostly seminars and business meetings.
However, when a good friend offered VIP
passes for me and Bethany, I couldn't say no.
As I write these words I'm finally here live at
Wimbledon!
As a kind of competitive tennis player myself
(veterans tournaments), it's a very big deal.
There is nothing like the Wimbledon venue
anywhere. Centre Court is undoubtedly the
greatest tennis court ever built. The green
grass is beautiful. And immaculate.
What does tennis have to do with success?
Nothing at all! At least not directly. But I
believe you, dear reader, will make the
connection.
What an experience it has been these last three
days just watching my favorite tour players.
Novak Djokovic, the world's number one, has
been terrific to watch. So fast afoot. So
talented.
So has Roger Federer, perhaps the greatest
player tennis has ever seen. Having lived in
Switzerland for so many years, I can also
appreciate his sportsmanship. And his ability
to conduct interviews in 5 languages is a
marvelous skill too.
Rafael Nadal is my very favorite competitor to
watch. His athleticism and topspin strokes are
just miraculous.
Maria Sharapova, the number one woman, is
as talented as she is lovely to look at. She has
brought to the game of tennis a kind of
glamour that is wholesome and so rare. She
deserves to be the leading woman in the world
in sponsorship earnings now exceeding $50
million annually!
Serena Williams when in top form is nearly
unbeatable. I won't argue with tennis experts
who believe she is the best female tennis
player of all time.
Andy Murray, the big British hope, has the
best return of serve I've ever seen. While a
dark horse, he has a good chance to win the
whole thing.
Another player I have always enjoyed
watching is Kim Clijsters. This tournament is
her last ever as she is devoting herself 100% to
motherhood and her family. Her clean strokes
will never be forgotten.
Another great player who I know and like
personally is Marcos Baghdatis from the island
of Cyprus. He has achieved miracles already in
his career. And there is more to come I'm sure.
It has been a joy sharing this email with you. It
is my hope that even if you are not a tennis fan
you will relate to the way an achievement of a
big dream can enormously stimulate your life!
Sweet dreams.
